Every bride pictures herself walking down the aisle on her wedding day in the dress of her dreams. For plus size brides, that can be a special challenge.
I speak from experience. My curvy daughter Michelle became a bride in June 2013. After countless appointments, she cried. None of the dozens of gowns she tried on flattered her curves. Even worse, the styles fell short of the romance and elegance of the historic 1920s Art-Deco ballroom where she would get married and have her reception. Seeing my daughter distraught over finding a wedding dress broke my heart.
Ten years earlier, I had faced a similar nightmare when Michelle (“Mickey” to the family) went Prom dress shopping. I solved that problem by launching Sydney’s Closet, today the leading designer dedicated to creating Prom frocks that rock for teens and special occasion dresses for women.
So I created a collection of formal wedding gowns for my daughter and all the plus size brides like her. I design the Michelle Bridal Collection for the discerning and savvy bride who wants only fashion-forward styles, fine fabrics and exquisite embellishments for her wedding gown.
This bride looks for her wedding gown on the Internet, but she’d never buy it online. The bride buying a Michelle Bridal gown understands that there is no substitute for purchasing directly from a bridal shop. That is the only way she can be confident she is purchasing an authentic designer dress, not a shoddy fake. The Collection is sold exclusively in fine bridal shops nationwide.
Michellle Bridal Collection debuted in 2013 with a capsule collection. Brides love the designs and the fabulous fit. For Spring 2015, I designed a full collection with new silhouettes to show off a full figured bride’s beautiful curves. And it’s almost time to start sketching the 2016 Collection!
